Hi. I just got a Fancier FC-270 for video work but noticed it only has rubber feet (that come off easily). This is the older model with the twist to lock legs not the quick flip type. I would prefer to have the option of spikes as well as rubber and was wondering if any of the other manufacturers feet would work. The metal rod is about 18mm with 16mm hollow at a quick measurement. Would any of the Manfrotto feet fit? I noticed some screw onto the outside of the rods and other screw/push into the inside. I am thinking the outside screw on type would work better for this.

?? The Google descriptions say that it comes with spikes. Example: "Rubber feet with retracting steel spikes for smooth or uneven ground, and can be used with ground spreader and wheels." Link (external link).

It's a slightly different model to the one I have. Mine has the twist to lock knobs on the legs instead of quick release plastic flips. It also does not have adjustable middle bit as show. My feet are just stuck onto the end of the poles. They are nothing like those. Mine was cheaper and was sourced in the UK from Ebay as these are hard to buy (there was one retailer but although they have a UK domain they source them from Spain).

Mine is this one.

That tripod is imported by Fancier Studio and is described at http://fancierstudio.com …camera-tripod-fc-270.html (external link)

One thing I note in the description is the wording "Rubber feet with retracting steel spikes for smooth or uneven ground". Are you sure you don't already have spikes but they are retracted? I'm not certain exactly what that may mean but perhaps go to the website and get a contact number if needed.

Please read what I wrote above. This is a different model of tripod legs (ET-70) vs ET-75 on the one you mention. The head is the same. There are no spikes.

They say the diameter of the tubes is 14mm but they seem bigger when I measured at around 18mm but maybe I am doing it wrong.

EDIT: I think the inside of the tubes is 14mm. I tried a different ruler and they are around 16-17mm on the outside.

So your current tripod foot is basically a rubber cap that you pop off, correct? It sounds like once you've taken that off, you're left with just the end of the CF or Aluminum tube. If you're handy, you could make an insert or cap, drill and tap that for 3/8" and then epoxy that in place. You can buy both rubber feet and spikes online that are 3/8" which can then screw into your inserts. That's the quick DIY approach. If you have a friendly camera store nearby, you could probably bring a pair of calipers and find a tripod with the same tube dimensions. Then just call the company and try and source the ready-made parts.

If I recall correctly, Bogen tripods had simple aluminum tubes, too, and you inserted something, which had a locking mechanism to hold it inside the leg tube, then the spikes screw into those.

I don't know how the Manfrotto current spikes work.
