Well, parts of this sounds similar to a problem I was having (that I'm hoping is fixed now). My 1dx was working perfectly when I sent it to Canon for the mirror lubrication recall back in July. When I got it back, it worked fine for a couple of weeks, and then it died about 10 shots into a paid shoot. I didn't have time to mess with it and finished the shoot with a backup camera. When I removed and replaced the battery, it came back to life. It behaved this way for a couple of weeks until removing and replacing the battery no longer brought the camera back to life. It was completely dead and went back to Canon. They replaced some part and sent it back. I had the same experience as above. It worked fine for a little while, then started with the intermittent failures, and then died completely. I even bought a second battery to be sure that wasn't the problem. Back to Canon again, and to their credit, they wanted to keep it a little longer this time so it wouldn't come back again once they fixed it. I've had it back now for a few weeks, and so far, so good...but I still bring a backup camera with me everywhere because I don't trust it yet. They replaced two different parts the last time, but the part name and numbers meant nothing to me.
