This is another black and white shot regarding one of my great grandsons that I liked. I hope you like it too. Comments and suggestions welcome.

I like it also. Works well in BW, and eyes are nice and sharp.

Nice shot with nice composition, although may be a slightly lower angle would have shown more of the eyes of the kid.

The guy's dark watch cap seems to almost merge into the shadows and it looks like you applied a vignette but there is a light patch on the wall behind his shoulder that looks a little out of place.
That said, it is a nice character shot of dad and boy.

Thanks Russ. I wasn't sure I could keep enough of both of them in focus at f4. The baby is a little soft but I thought it still worked.

Thanks. I agree that a lower angle would have been an improvement. Unfortunately, this was just a candid moment rather than posed so I felt lucky to get the expressions of concentration on both their faces at the same time.

Thanks. I did apply a 'vignette' and now that you point in out, the light area behind dad's shoulder should be darkened a bit more.

Interesting point regarding the darkness of the image. The brightness value on my monitor is at 52% for comparison and below is a screenshot showing what blacks are crushed in the image. When I view the image full sized on Flickr, I see all the detail in his cap (my monitor has a resolution of 2560x1440). My goal with the vignette was to narrow the focus of interest to their expressions of concentration.

My eyes for some reason always search an image and the part of this image that hits home for me is the small hand holding on to one so much larger. Great shot all in all with only minor things you could knock out in post to nit pick about. Great focus and sharpness. I'm a fan.

I have my monitor set at about 45% and I can't see any detail in the cap; but I can just make out the outline against the background. If you get a chance to shoot one like this again I think it would be cool to get the camera almost in line with the iPhone and their eyes.

Great shot. But the babies tend to be so pink and delicious... this could use some color.
