I've been contemplating getting this tripod, mainly for longer hikes, and backpacking trips...it does seem to be a new item, so if you have experience with one of the other mefoto tripods that could be useful as well...main uses would be my camera and the 10-20mm probably...so nothing too heavy

I don't know about this but i had travel to my original country for 10 days with RoadTrip (external link) and it work great. Light weight , you can pack it up and put it in the cover bag( included) very convenience but it only can handle the light weight lens not the Telephoto lens

They are manufactured by Benro/ Induro. Ive been looking at their Globetrotter for my long lens and gimble head Ive yet to purchase :)

As a whole- they (Mefoto) get great reviews and the guys at B&H gave them the nod when I asked if it would hold my setup.

I had the backpacker. I didn't like how the center column could not be adjusted so I sold it for the road trip. For me the Roadtrip seems like a better compromise of size and stability and its not much more than the day trip. I got mine on amazon for about $160.

The mefoto tripods are really nice and pretty well made. I am actually surprised how good it is considering the price. I agree its not so great with a tele lens but still its great for mid size lenses like a 17-40 or 24-105. The monopod is a nice bonus too.

The DayTrip looks interesting but you may be better off with a simple bean bag. Just seems a little to short to be useful.

thanks everyone...the only thing with getting one like the roadtrip, is i feel like the weight difference isn't that huge compared to my regular tripod

the bean bag is also another thing i hadn't thought of, that's pretty much what i'm doing now...just placing my camera on rocks and such...but i think the ability to get up just a foot would actually help quite a bit

at least it appears that they are well made, and i don't have to worry about that...just need to figure out my priorities..

I have the Roadtrip and a Gitzo 2541 and I admit that the size difference is not always that significant but the Benro folds up for transport much smaller ( over a foot ) so its nice for travel.

I mostly picked up the benro for trips like disney where I can leave it in a stroller and not worry about it.

I would be curious to hear from those who own the globetrotter and how it compares to a Gitzo.

If your game on a the Mefoto- looks like every color option is available through B&H as a demo in their used dept. Prices for the Daytrip are at $94

Don't have that one
Boy that's short.
You sure you want a 24" limit?

I've had this one for over a year and love it
for those times when a full size is too much
to haul.

i had just seen a few people talking about that tripod...does seem like another option

I probably really don't need much more than the 24" limit, I feel like the vast majority of the time i'm using my UWA i'm getting low, and close anyways
