Has Canon gone to new boxes for lenses?

I ordered an 85mm 1.8, and it arrived in a black/silver box, not the traditional white/red/black boxes I'm familiar with. I've previously only seen the black/silver boxes for EF-M lenses, is Canon going to the new boxes for all their lenses?

That sounds like an OLD box. Was it a new lens or used? 85mm f1.8 has been around since the 90s.

My 55-250 STM came in a box like that so it must be new since that lens is new.

My 50mm 1.4 came in a silver box like that.. Got it from dppreview

Maybe these are non-L lens boxes? I just picked up a 16-35L II - that came with the newly-designed, center-pinch lens cap - and it came in the traditional white/red/black box.

"L" lenses have always shared the same design box as non-L lenses, so I expect the new silver boxes will start showing up on L lenses soon too.

I like the new box because there is a photo of what's in the box.
