I hope I made the right choice. I've been going back and forth in my mind over this. I wanted to upgrade to full frame from my 7D mainly because of my interest shifting to landscape and scenery photography, and starting to dabble into portraits. I 've been a member here for some time, but don't post often. I never had to, I always found my answers SOMEWHERE on this forum. We'll see when it gets here.....;)

just went form 40d to 6d, my 24-105 has completely changed in ways I never expected. before i liked the lens, now i may love it.

I've only had my camera for a day, but the images i've shot just around the house are blowing me away. the ISO performance of this body is nuts!

I upgraded from a T3I to the 6D and could not have made a better decision. The low light capability of this camera is awesome and the full frame lets you crop really tight without losing detail. You'll be happy !!

seems that lower 6D refurb price has moved a few off the full frame fence

Yep! And while I "patiently" wait for it, I gotta figure out the best way to sell my other 2 bodies and a few lenses. :)

Cropping never removes detail in what you are left with. Resizing upwards to make enough material for a print would affect detail however.

You most certainly did! I did the exact same as you going from 7D to 6D. I got a refurb 6D and 17-40 all in one shot and probably saved $800 or so. I was curious about shutter count up until the box was open and camera in hand. Started shooting and never cared afterwards . Congrats!

Remember that a full-frame doesn't allow you to crop any harder. It's just that the APS-C camera sensor have already performed a vrop before you got an image file - which is why we call them crop-factor cameras.

A 6D or a 600D with a 100mm lens will still project a subject at the same size onto the sensor. So it is more important to talk about pixel size when wanting to crop to get "more reach".

What the 6D does, is capturing wider with a given lens. But it doesn't give reach through extra cropping.

Keep at least one older body. It is wonderful to have two cameras directly available for instant switch of angle-of-view. A 7D with a long lens and the 6D with a wide lens is a nice complement.

I totally agree with this sentiment.

Just like you buddy, I just placed my order 10 Minutes ago!! Will be here Tuesday with the Fed Ex driver. Ill be waiting by the back door at work and likely attacK him when he pulls in, lol. Sold my 70D to make the money for it, ill pick up another 70D when they start to seel refurb units and the price drops a bit. Picked up a refurb for a total of $1548 with overnight shipping!! I wanted to wait and see if a better deal came around but im not near patient enough for that. Went to a photo expo today and played with one for a bit, very sturdy build and IQ was great. It was paired with a 50mm 1.4. Plus reading all the replies to your post sealed the deal for me.

I dug through all my old P & S cameras and none were canon. Lol. When is the 20% off sale?

Edit: yeah now that I read a little about the CLP, I should've done that. Could've saved a little more money. I was just making sure I got the money in the bank and order placed before the sale ended tonight. I'll be sure and keep this in mind next time I buy a return body. Thanks buddy!!
