Hi Brandon,

Thanks
I'll give it a shot.

I've gotten a bit sick of doing the modification myself, i was looking at the Pocketwizards, particularly with the ST4 on the ranger pack. But they don't have anything to control the power output on the Quadra. So that lost as an option for me.

Wishing something new would come out at Elinchrom land... they've been quiet for far too long. I'm almost at the point of 'gasp' jumping ship, if something new doesn't come out soon. At least Profoto is still innovating for professionals. Not just continually introducing new beginner lights and following the money. Sigh.

If I do use my Skyports, it's only to remotely adjust the power level of the lights. Triggering of my lights is done with PW MMs. This way, I get to keep my sanity and whatever hair I have left. ;)

I lost my sanity a long time ago, my rant should attest to that:eek:

I've never had a problem with mine...Except for at one point one of my transmitters went into speed mode by one of the buttons being pressed for 5 seconds (I think) but it was an easy fix when I figured out what was wrong.

One of mine is even having a problem using the PC sync cable. It will fire consistently with the test button though.

Mine is definitely starting to fail.

For a year or so, it was the best thing ever.

Now, I have to switch it on and off to work every now and then when it fails, even with new batteries.

And I absolutely never leave the house without the cable as backup because the wireless transmitter is unreliable. It will fail when you least expect.

Elinchrom is generally hit and miss, they are overpriced, and don't follow-through with their products. But my biggest problem with their flimsy modifiers. These things are poorly constructed with weak materials.

I have to say though, when I broke my quadra reflector adapter, they replaced it with a new one without charge. So there's that.

Sorry, i don't agree with you Andy. Elinchrom isn't overpriced. Just head over to Profoto or Broncolor for that. (My opinion). But the Skyports do fail as they age. :(
