Can anyone recommend a projector for my own personal use when showing photos at camera clubs etc.? I have done some research but its a minefield out there :)

I was thinking of hooking up an iPad Air ( latest one) with an HD projector 1920 x1080, maybe one of these

Anyone and ideas ? I believe the iPad keynote software app. is great for presentations?

Thanks

If you are showing photos at camera clubs, can't you just use their projectors?

I am in three camera clubs and have never seen anyone bring their own projector, as the clubs all have high end projectors already.

Sometimes their projectors mangle the images, poor colour and contrast and the photos look horrible compared to the sharp vibrant images I want to show them.

Sounds like they need calibrating, could you offer to calibrate them for them? Or problems could be down to the screen or even the room not being fully dark.

It may be a local problem as all the clubs I have visited in my area have very good equipment and calibrate it regularly.

I can't help with projector models I'm afraid, I know the one at my main club is a much more substantial piece of kit than either of those, and cost a lot more too (a replacement lamp alone is 300 quid) but I don't know the make or model number. It is calibrated with a colormunki, onsite where we use it.

I hope that you get sorted.

I've yet to see a projector that displays images all that well that costs less than $3000. Pioneer used to be one of the better ones. I haven't looked at a projector in a year or so but when I went to buy one for projection sales, I couldn;t get anything that displayed colors well without spending a fortune on a projector and a small fortune on a good screen. I wound up buying an LCD TV and I'm not all that happy with it but I saved a ton of money by not going the projector/screen route.

I know this probably didn't help any. Sorry.

Thanks kcpyro, it does help actually, confirming my belief that projected images don't show too well.
