Gitzo leg spreading even when locked

I definitely have stripped the head of the hinge screws, at least partially, but it appears that all that is needed to tighten the drag are those Nyloc screws. Luckily, I was careful with those.

Great job Johns!! :) I took one look at those pictures and (a) I agree they're hex and (b) I had no idea Gitzo made a tripod like that! Also I'm sure Gitzo uses metric screws, the leg joint screws in my Gitzo 3-series systematic have an M6-1 thread on the shank and a torx T25 socket in the head.

Actually I've replaced all the alloy leg joint screws on my Gitzo and Benro tripods with stainless steel screws that have an M6-1 shank thread and a torx T30 socket in the head. Now I'm happy with the tension.
