I am a left eye dominant person and really struggle to shoot football with both eyes open. These DSLR's just are not built for us left eye guys. Or am I the only one that has issues with this.
I just picked up a EF-300mm f2.8 L (non-is) and this week was my first shot at using it to shoot the Texas Tech vs Baylor game. In the past I was shooting with a EF 70-200mm f2.8L with a 1.4 extender and was able to track the play fairly well. With the much heavier 300mm, I added a mono pod and now find that tracking the play has become much more difficult. Part of this is due to getting use to the different lens I'm sure, but I think another part is because of the difficulty I experience trying to shoot left eyed.
My next shoot with be the Texas Tech at Texas game in Austin, in the mean time I am doing some close bonding with my new setup, trying to get better at tracking moving objects. And looking for suggestions on how other left eye dominant people shoot with both eyes open.
Thanks for your indulgence.
