Here are my thoughts:

I'd stay clear of clients who requests certain "styles", especially when it's not your style. You had mentioned that they requested the low-contrast style and that you usually don't do that style. That be said, it's your first one so it's OK that you took the job.

#1 - Normally, I'd shoot as wide as possible to blur out the background as it seems you have done here, but with your framing of this picture where the mountains take up a good portion of the photo, I'd stop down the lens a bit to get more of the mountains in focus. There seems to be a weird vertical line going down behind the guy's head. Not sure what that is. I'd also increase the contrast of this one (even though the client didn't want it) for your own personal use. Otherwise, I think it's a good photo.

#2 - I like shot more. There's more contrast compared to the first one. Pose is good. I'd probably shoot this one tighter. There's too much blown out sky.

#3 - I think this would have been really cute if you had them playing in the snow on the ground somewhere in the background. I'd rather connect S & M with two faces than an open field of snow.

Overall, I think you did a good job!

I really like the second one and the first would be even better with some added contrast to give it a little pop.

I think their great! I like the 2nd shot the best but I think you did a good job matching the style they were looking for.

Sidenote: I would never turn down a client because of a special request if I know I can produce appropriate results. Black and white isn't my style but I had a client ask for it... so I did it. No big deal.
