I am looking back at my images and not one of them is showing the AF focal point in DPP

I use BBF with micro-adjustments enabled, but even the lens that I was using last night that isn't MA'd because I don't care about it

Can anyone tell me if this is normal??

You have to go View and click on AF Point to activate, it is not a default setting

When using bbf you need to hold the button in while shooting for the AF point to be registered. If you focus, let the Af-on button go and then shoot, the AF point does not show up in DPP. If you are already doing this then I have no idea why its not working.

In Windows I use Alt L to open the af pt overlay.

Ah, right, I get it, I'm letting go of the button, thanks

Let me know if it works. I learnt this through trial and error myself :)

Makes sense really. DPP shows focus point that is active at time of shot. With bbf the point isn't active if the button isn't pushed. And if you recompose after focusing and don't let go of the button the overlay is irrelevant anyways.

Same with AI-Servo: depends on whether you were pushing the back button at the moment the picture was taken or not.

The above is not as trivial as it may seem. Some of us use AI-Servo constantly and may let go the back button after focus is achieved on static subjects.

And here, a related problem.

The picture was taken by my son-in-law with the 30D I left to him. Note the AF-diamond position. How did that happen? (The picture hasn't been cropped.)

No, if you're using a Speedlite, and you've set it to emit an AF beam, the beam will not show

It was in AI servo mode. Maybe that has something to do with it. Do you have any images where one shot was used?

At the moment I don't have a recent one-shot AF image, but the camera has been used all the time in AI-Servo and the AF points display has always been as expected. Even now, this is the single picture where this happened (as far as I know).

I'm not too knowledgeable but in Live View, with the cameras I've used, you can move the focus point anywhere, and I could imagine that showing up as the middle point when you turn on the overlay in DPP. I HAVE NOT TRIED THIS just a guess.
