I love everything about the 6d, except for the lack of a dedicated white balance button. I suppose if I were going to be really picky I'd also mention that there is no pc port either.

I vexes me that you should have to pay double (5dmkiii) in order to get these features with similar image quality. Surely Drive < White Balance? Perhaps it is just personal preference getting the better of me.

You must not have gotten to page 390 of the manual or I don't understand your gripe.

For me I rarely change WB in camera so it doesn't matter. Mine is set to fixed K value.

You dont understand. He is talking about the PC sync port for external flash. Not a personal computer port.

My apologies for the ambiguity. I was indeed referring to the lack of PC sync port on the 6d.

I think it's silly that it's even possible to buy a DSLR without a PC port, should just be on all cameras.

Before the 6D existed there were calls by many enthusiasts, some on this forum, for a lower cost simplified full frame camera, some even called it a full frame rebel. According to a canon factory rep I spoke with thats the driving force behind the development of the 6D. The user interface, while not quite that of the rebel, is more rebel like. The lack of the PC port, the slower top shutter speed, the slower sync port all point to where canon wanted to position the camera in their lineup. Below the 5DIII so as not to cannibalize their own market base. However the improvements in low light performance and the improved outer focus points make it attractive enough that many users want it to be a full featured pro camera. The canon rep summed it up like this, "they asked us for a full frame rebel, we gave it to them, and now we are getting killed for what we left off."

Why not just use wireless or CyberSync?

Those require batteries which fail, and there are occasions where you might want to use an ETTL solution in the hotshoe while triggering manual flash from the pc sync port.

Gonzogolf nailed it.

FlashZebra #0268 Canon Camera ETTL Pass Through Hotshoe with Screwlock PC Sync Portadapter, $18 at http://flashzebra.com/products/0268/index.shtml (external link) maybe?

Maybe, but why would you want to add that expense and have your $400 flash sitting on that extra bit of plastic when it could have been built into your camera to begin with? I think it comes down to canon putting the sync port in cameras they consider to be pro, and not in the enthusiasts cameras. Keep in mind that what we identify as being pro quality may not match their marketing plan.

If we really want the port that bad, we can pay $1000 or so more. If it's a deal breaker for someone then they just need to make a different deal.
