Doldrums (Detroit 11.12.13)

Shot Doldurms who was opening for Sleigh Bells last week in Detroit. Not the best stage lighting but I thought it actually worked very well with this band. Fit the mood/atmosphere perfectly.

Was talking to another photographer before Sleigh Bells came on stage and he mentioned how worried he was about the lighting there. I showed him my shots of Doldrums and said how I tried to go for the silhouettes instead of clear/visible shots of the band. He told me "I shoot for Getty. They don't publish silhouettes. I have to shoot with my lens wide open and hope I can see their faces.". Interesting but I didn't realize that stock photo agencies would usually reject shots like these.
