Plastic and garish, Virgin's Pendolino adds a bit of colour to an outerwise dull day at Glasgow.

Looks and feels nothing like the old 37's... and they call this a locomotive?
Makes you want to just kick it....

Canon 300D, EF-s 18-55mm with Cokin ND grad. If you have UK train pics please consider adding them here. http://www.scotlandone.com (external link)

At least it's a lot cleaner than most 37's I've seen...

Nice photo!

John

Haha, hello John:

With the bull nose of the 37's I don't think the driver could see out very well anyway.

If you are a rail fan, have a look at our site.

There's no smoke, no noise, no rumble in your stomach with the electric motors of today... it's just not the same.

Thanks for stoppin by.

Cousin.

That train hasn't passed through here in 20 years. ;)

Nice shot - I like the electrics, but it does have a somewhat "emasculated" look to it. Colorful, but it doesn't look like it could pull much weight.

Hi Tom:

I spoke with one of the engineers and these babies are very powerful. They can rumble along at 140mph - and stop in an emergency in 3/4 of a mile.

They are basically the successful version of the now mothballed and chopped up British APT (Advanced Passenger Train). This of course is built in another Country.

Cousin train Mad.

Yes mate,

Sometimes that technology change takes us backwards instead of forwards.

Maybe the movie "Back to the future" was trying to tell us something....

Hmmm, Cousin better check to see if his new cell phone is less technologically advanced than the old one.

Cousin techno Mad.

Very colorful! How would you like to have gone through school with a name like "Virgin's Pendolino"? :D We had some bottom-of-the-barrel grads who named their son Yogi Bear!
