I have no experience with this lens, but just wanted to pass along a good deal from Adorama.

I picked up this lens earlier in the year when Adorama had it for sale on their Ebay site for $400. It's a good lens, sharp wide open, fast very accurate autofocus and produces nice images. I can get hand held shots as low as 1/2 seconds. It's a great lens for shooting a small group of people. The build quality is nice also.

I don't need this lens but since it is such a bargain, I guess I will just do it.

Same here. If it was f2 IS, I would have bought it. f2.8, too slow IMHO. To me aperture more important than IS at this range.

Same reason I bought it, and have been quite happy with it.

If it is the same deal on the 24mm IS or 35mm IS then no brainer to me.

I have the 28mm f/1.8 and, while I won't use it a lot wide open, it really starts to shine around f/2.2. How does the 28mm f/2.8 work wide open? Do you have to ratchet it up to the f/3.x range to bring it out of it's shell?

Jpg. straight off the camera F4.0 in camera sharpness set to 5 no pp, fill flash. First time using this lens, it's plenty sharp at F2.8.
