Just got the new Fuji X-E2

Went to my favorite store, tried the camera inside the store, and was amazed at all the fuji x hype.
Yes, its a fun camera, with lots of cool features under the hood.
At $1400 its not cheap.
This kit lens is really really nice, its not really a kit lens, at 2.8, all aluminium with aperture ring, great IS lens, it just the perfect fit for this camera.
I will be shooting more as i get out tomorrow, but so far its a snappy camera,i shot in jpeg mode, but got to try the raw mode, i know its slower in raw mode.

That EVF is really nice, the Q menu is cool, compared to my 5d menu.....
The back dial is also a zoom, great for focusing.
Since i like to have my camera with me all the time, its a great alternative to a heavy dslr.

Both are great in what they can do.
Fuji are really paying attention to details, no wonder they score big time with the x series.

my X100s goes with me everywhere I go (unlike my DSLR). Love it to bits.

The XE-2 is an awfully attractive piece of kit too. Lots of capability in a relatively small package.

Granted, there are some pretty spectacular mirrorless systems out there these days. Interesting times.

Great, believe me, the AF is great.
I own a 5dmkII and I feel that it has almost the same speed.
Great also in low light.
I do not expect it to be as fast as my 5d, but I will do some comparison.
The viewfinder is the only big difference its a EVF, and when you look inside and move the camera sideways, real fast, its has a ms or two......you know what I mean, its a tad slower, but I don't use it for sport, it does shoot at high framerate, crazy.....
Again, i'm not using it for high sped, I'm just the kind of guy that takes the time to do a nice composition.
I think this camera is fast enough for most situations.
The weight is perfect, its not killing me.And the lens is so good, its no crappy stuff that comes on the 70D, no plastic here, just the lens is worth the buy.
I still have to get used to it, its only a day old.....

Don't expect a full frame IQ.....

Yes, but so far after reading a lot, I opted for Fuji, they really listen to their customers.
I would like Canon to do the same, but its not happening.
So far so good.

I can't compare the X-E2 to the other current mirrorless offerings (they've all come a long way with AF speed), but it is much closer to my 60D than my G15 in terms of AF. It's probably not a camera to shoot sports or BiF with, but it's better than I expected overall.

Its no slush like the G15, no way.Its a lot like a dslr!
How do you like the 35 1.4?
Me i'm in love with the 18-55, that has nothing to do with the Canon 18-55!
Its a lovely lens!

Thanks. One more thing, how good are these cameras for say taking picture of active kids. I know 5dc/5dmk2 that I have had were slow. Even 6d that I have now sometimes is slow.

That I can't answer, its too new to me, but I will try to capture dancers, thats what I usually do as gigs.
I should take some pics real soon on the lakeside, if I catch a dog, I will try to test it!

Thanks again. Maybe a side question, besides size&weight what does XE-2 buy say compared to 35L or sigma 35mm f1.4 pared with 6d.

I rented the XE1 and wanted to love it but I just couldn't get past the build quality. It felt hollow, the on/off switch "dangled around" (wasn't firm like a Nikon or Sony), the tripod screw made it impossible to not block the battery/card door if using tripod, the card goes in the same slot as the battery aka: like a p&s, etc.
I liked what the sensor did and the it lens was sweet. The AF was plenty snappy enough for me (had the firmware update), it was just the build quality that really killed it for me. Plus a touch screen would be a great bonus.
The XE2 has face detection focus which is a big plus for portrait shooting. I plan on renting one with a 35 1.4 to see how the XE2 is different from the XE1. Steve Huff has complained about the build of the XE1 as well.

While the IQ and low-light capability is very good. It seems to have maybe a full stop advantage in high ISO capability compared to my 60D (maybe a little better, still testing). At the end of the day, it is a crop sensor, so, I'd guess it wouldn't compete well in the IQ department with a full-frame / 35 1.4 match-up. But it would be a hell of a lot smaller and lighter. It's probably not half the size or weight of a 5DIII with the Sigma 35mm.

X-E2 with 35mm = 537 grams

The X-E2 with the lens weighs slightly less than the 35mm L lens alone.

Agree, it exactly what I think, lot less weight, and enough quality to shoot urban scenes, landscape and traveling!
