So I've decided to try the free trial to see how the real estate presets work (I do real estate photography and I'm always looking to improve my process). I downloaded the package and ran the installer, which is supposed to install my Lightroom plugin when I install Photomatix. But I see no option to export to Photomatix in Lightroom.

I've checked their website and it says, if it doesn't show up after install, try installing the plugin manually and they link you back to the download page. Of course, there is no way (that I can see) to download the plugin. The only download is for the installation package (that I see).

I'm rather stumped at this point.

I am still using Lightroom 3 (found no reason to upgrade yet) so not sure if this is the problem or not.

Any ideas?

It could be your older version of LR.

I downloaded and installed on LR 5.2 and it works.

Going into the LR Plugin Manger, it shows the plugin is installed at this location:

C:\Users\"my user name"\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Modules\Photomatix.lrplugin

Not sure if that's the default location or what, but it works. See if you can locate the Photomatix.lrplugin file on your system and put it in a similar directory.

FYI, I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

I'm afraid that may be part of the problem--version of LR--however, I really don't want to upgrade (no reason to).

More importantly, I can't find the plugin at all. In the install instructions on their page it talks about downloading and installing manually but I cannot (for the life of me) figure out how to download anything but the installation package.

Lightroom 3 is supported. Proof here:

If you have Lightroom (version 3 or higher), see the installation instructions for the Lightroom plug-in.

It sounds like you're using a Mac. Windows installation does not talk about 'failed' plug-in installation. Mac version does (discussed in installation Step 2).

It tells you to download Photomatix Pro (non automatic installation). It doesn't say anything about downloading the plug-in only. There are 2 different setup packages (both links posted below are copied/pasted from hdrsoft.com website):

Automatic installation (external link)
Manual installation (external link) (this download contains Read Me file).

Try downloading the second link (for manual installation). Open the Read Me.rtf file and follow the instruction carefully. If you don't trust links from strangers, go back to hdrsoft.com download for Mac. Click the link that says "Photomatix Pro app", below "Photomatix Pro Installer" (automatic installation).

Thanks. That's strange, I don't see the manual installation link where they pointed me to.

Oh well, let me try this. I appreciate you posting it.

Oh, I am on a Mac, I forgot to mention that earlier. Minor detail, I know. ;)
