Went up in a little Cessna 172 yesterday from the Boulder City NV airport, and flew out to Laughlin NV. This is one of the shots I took as we flew over this little gaming city on the river.

The Captain and crew finally got their stuff together, now if we can only remember where we left it.

Thanks BTG, I tried to keep excess gear to a minimum, so only had my 28-105 lens with me. We DID however fly in a bit closer as well. See if this one works any better. ;)

Great shots, Bruce. I really love the first one. The shapes of the hills, the water and textures are just wonderful.

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

Awesome shots, I never seem to get any good pictures when I try it from the air. Is there any tips or tricks to getting good pictures up there?

Hi Michael, Removing a door or window to eliminate shooting through plexiglass that never seems to be crystal clear would be ideal for one thing, depending on the type of aircraft you go up in. Unfortunately, I've not had that option so far, so watch for reflections, and sun flare before you shoot.
Airplanes have plenty of vibration, which is counterproductive to getting reasonably sharp images. Think of this as the opposite of having a lens with "IS", so try to keep shutter speeds fairly high to help negate that problem.
It also helps a lot when you can ask the pilot to turn, bank, etc, to give you angles that are perpendicular to the scenery you wish to photograph, ie, shoot straight through the plexi which is usually optically very bad at best.
Good luck. ;)
