I have a mini TT1 on camera and want to trigger my Alien Bee with the TT5, but it doesn't want to fire. Connecting using a mono cable to the p2 of the TT5 and the sync on the AB.

Should it work this way?

Short answer is yes, it should work. When you use the P2 port you are not using the Control TL channels, so you need to make sure the TT1 transmit and TT5 receive standard channels match.

Invest the money and get an AC9. It will give you the ability to fire and remotely control the power on your AB mono. Well worth the investment.

Make sure your on the same channels. You should be able to fire any AB with that set up.

I have the same problem! I just received AB1600 and I tried to hook it via 1/8 mono cable to the TT5. However, it simply didn't fire. Do you have a specific settings in order for this setup to work? Please share with us. Thank you in advance.

Yes, it should. When you press the test button on the transmitter do you see the red light flash on the TT5? Does the flash fire when you press the test button on the strobe TT5?
