I just bought a used 430EX flash for my G5.
Most if not all of the pics I take now are with no flash so I'm wondering how this flash will help me generally?

Would something like this help me at all or would I just waste my money??

Don't waste your money, especially if you don't understand what a bracket is for. Googling what they're for should help more than I could in a short post.

Skip the bracket, play with the flash. Going from the onboard flash to the 430ex you won't believe the difference.

THATS what I want to hear!!;)

I think the main reason most of my pics are with NO flash is because the onboard flash sucks so much.........Maybe with the addition of the 430 I'll instantly become a Pro and make tons of money!!   :) Or not?!:p

That is what I did - I used a SunPak external flash to overcome the shadow cast when is used a telephoto or wide angle lens on my A75. Eventually I realized I was trying to work around disadvantages in the camera and bought a 300D. However, I still use the A75 a lot, it is a terrific camera and it fits in my pocket - intil I start adding stuff to it.
