Hi...

I have NO Nikon OR Canon equipment at the moment. Not married to any system. I HAD one of the D600 Nikons with the dust problem and made Nikon refund my $$$. Other than ton's of spots I LOVED the IQ and DR. Problem is that the whole experience has left a really bad taste.

I am trying to decide between the D610 and the Canon 6D. I like the range of the 24-105 kit lens better than I like the range of the Nikon 24-85.. plus the Canon L lens seems to have a better build.

Anyone here owe or have used both of these cameras and lenses that can tell me what THEY have found? I do Fine art street photography, building interiors and texture shots. Loved the ability to pull clean details out of deep shadows with the Nikon. How far apart are they?

I never used thr D600 or 610 but if you loved the IQ and Dr from the Nikon I'd say stick with what you know-Nikon.

Gotta agree. You say aside from the dust issue you "LOVED" the IQ. Well the D610 fixed the dust issue, so I say go with the D610.

I would go with canon only because Nikon didn't fix the D600 and brought out the D610 instead.

but either camera will do what you want it to do so I would go to a camera store and hold both in your hand and see which one fits the best. After all your going to hold it for hours at a time so if it doesn't feel right then that might effect you taking photos.

I just made the decision myself this week, and went with the d610. I came from Pentax to the 1D mkii then on to the 40D and wanted to get a 6D but the AF killed it for me. I shoot children and they move a lot and they move fast. If ,money was no object I would have got a 5d mk3.

If you are already happy with the Nikon then buy that. But judging by what you shoot the higher ISO range of the 6D might suit you better. AF seems irrelevent for what you shoot

OP, what lenses do you own? If Nikon lenses, then decision will be easy. If none, then I would follow Stelvio's advice FWIW.

Actually I am in the enviable position of having NO legacy lenses of any make. Which is one reason I am taking this purchase probably more seriously than necessary!

When I am trying to decide between two cameras, I use this website:

http://snapsort.com …anon-EOS-6D-vs-Nikon-D610 (external link)

It gives the best of each camera, then you can compare and see which is most important to you to have. Either way, you can't go wrong.

if you like the ISO performance, IQ and other features (price) the 6D might be the better choice

D610 fixed that issue and what's that saying, " the grass isn't always greener blah blah blah", google 6D issues and see what pops up. As someone already said stick with what you like/know already.
