Focus does look off. Very soft image. If it was in focus and with better lighting it would be cute.

The legs are closer to focus - I wonder if the camera was manually focused for simplicity, and someone then moved the tripod. The only thing in focus is the border.

Yup. However, it IS a mall photo so I wouldn't expect much from their "photographer". Just sayin'.

Your daughter is too old for these Santa pictures. Did you tell her Santa isn't real? Couldn't they even step back maybe 4 feet. They could have captured the legs too. Yeah, of course, the focus is off. The white balance is off too. Sigh....

They probably used a UV filter to "protect the lens".

Sure the focus is off! Hire me to be a "Mall Santa Photographer" and I'll do a better job!!! :)

But was there a photographer there, or was it just santa with a remote release, and pre-adjusted camera?

I'd take it back and ask for a retake, even at the mall one should expect to get a shot that is in focus, but that might just be my opinion.. Cute expression though! Mele Kalikimaka

Did you plan on printing it on a 12x18? or larger? Its definitely not in perfect focus, but Id imagine this will be used for greeting cards and at most printed on a 4x6 and looks excellent at that size. Cute picture for sure!
