I found some similar scenarios out there, but I wanted to add my recent experience...

I'd left my card 'door' open over 1 or 2 days... and when I went to use the camera, even with card inserted, I had the 'non memory card' error.

I don't know exactly what fixed it, but I removed and reinstered the card a few times and tried blowing in the slot.. and finally it was working again. (and no recurrence since)

Could it have been the open door?

Heya,

Probably got some dust or corrosion on the copper contacts which limited connectivity just enough to prevent a contact that was sufficient for recognition. Putting the card in and out rubbed it enough to loosen it from friction and pressure and the circulating air you blew in.

Just guessing.

Very best,

Ya, that must be it. Seems like pretty unforgiving tolerances in that case.
