thanks for your input. in your gear list you have the 70-200 though, wonder why you use only primes?

Oh I find the 70-200 f/2.8 II IS has pretty bad bokeh for some reason

Like it's f/2.8 bokeh is worse than the 200 f/2L IS at f/4.5

Dunno could be just me

I never liked the Canon 70-200L IS I and the II was hit or miss for me. Now that I have switched to Nikon, I carry the 70-200VRII for weddings.

Agree especially at wider ends.

I am going to shoot my last wedding (for this year) tomorrow. I think I am going to use my 35 and 85 a lot! I like primes more so I think I am not going to use the 70-200L that much.

I could never shoot with a 135L at weddings. I found hand-holding that thing to be difficult, even outside. I couldn't imagine shooting that thing at 1/50 in a dark church.

Your not gonna hand hold a 135L and expect anything good below 1/125. I use a 135L all the time in TV mode inside during a ceremony. I can control DOF with ISO adjustments. With a 135L, im looking for isolation type shots so when i can control ISO like this, i can keep it consistently near F/2.0--2.5......works very good.

Found this out by accident while we were breaking in our assistant 2 yrs ago. I use this all the time now.

On several occasions I've used just the 35L and 85L for weddings on a pair of 5D's.

Just shot the wedding I mentioned above. The primes are the basic of my shooting style.

In order of most used till less used today. 85L > 35A > 17-40L > 70-200L

I had to use the 17-40L in quite some shots. The outcomes are really nice. I can't live with just a 35 and 85. I need something wider. While the 70-200L is an awesome lens, I just don't use it that much. For some reason I can't really love the long zoom. The IQ is good/great but I am thinking and seeing everything in 85mm perspective, so the 85 is probably the best lens for me.

Sometimes I am thinking about selling the 70-200L already. I love the IQ, but I just don't use it that much. But I am scared about regrets.

I use the 70-200 for 200mm. If you don't need or want the range greater that 85mm or 135mm I suppose there's no sense in owning the zoom. I love what I get at 200mm.

Having owned the 135L many times and the 200L f2 a few times, I can honestly say that my 70-200 has served me great. Again, it's THAT good.

"Can you live with 35/85/135 on a wedding with two bodies?"

Absolutely! I belive it all depends on your style of shooting...
I usually shoot with primes 35/50/85 and i carry 1FF and 1APS-C body for the reach.

The 70-200 f2.8 IS is my go to lens for weddings. I also use the 70-200 (version 1) but hope to upgrade to version 2 sometime next year.

I think you are referring to the 24-70mm...
