Hello
For many weeks, I've been thinking about which lens I should buy. The type of lens is a telephoto lens. Eventually, I decided.

It was this weekend, when it was photo exhibition, which I got to test the lens.
Previously I have owned a telephoto lens without Image Stabilizer but now it became a reality when this lens has image stabilization which is very helpful when I have shaky hands. I have not owned a telephoto lens with a fixed aperture 2.8. With this mixer so it opens up many doors for me, photographing wildlife and birds. I live in a country where we do not have many hours of sunshine a day.

So finally I bought a lens that has a long life ahead. With a fixed aperture 2.8, image stabilizer and shelter so it can not get worse. Now that the standard warranty is raised to 5 years instead of 2 years so it feels safe. I even bought an extra insurance that covers accidents. Nice to have extra security.

This is my new family member, a beauty to use and to look at :)

The day after the purchase, and I went straight down to the water to see if any bird wanted to stand as a model and yes there was a coot.
The next day it was time to go home.

This morning I decided to go out for the first time, at home, with the new set (70D + 120-300/2.8 OS), and this set had to work right away. It took just 10 minutes, I saw a very nice bird that has been in my thoughts when it comes to shooting in low light conditions. The Capercaillie.

A very successful first round. A game where I got to know how nice it is to have a professional lens with image stabilizer. It helps a lot + 70D's ISO performance.

Your first shots do look quite nice but why would you want a "fixed" aperture of 2.8, that would severely limit you?

Not fixed really, I mean that the aperture doesn't change when you zoom in or out it's 2.8 from 120-300. Then if I want to change for maybe f/4 or f/8 I can do that :)

Nice shots! Looks like a great lens, your shots at f/2.8 look super sharp.

Nice shots and setup.
The 70d has proven already to be a great all around camera.
The Sigma 120-300 is just amazing.
I would love to have one with a 1.4 TC making it a 420 f4.

Keep posting and enjoy your new setup.

Yeah the 70D is a very good camera, it has everything I think. The 120-300/2.8 OS is a masterpiece for me. It's nice to have a zoom with good range + the 2.8 and OS. I love the bokeh in this lens. I will buy a tc but I don't know which, the 1.4x or 2.0x. I can get the later for a very good price. :)

Looks like a great purchase! Gabe Balazs has posted some phenomenal shots with this lens (I believe) with a 2X tele, so I think it bodes well for your future shooting. :)

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Yeah I've looked in his gallery earlier and that combo is great!
