...That person has never been standing in the park, during a beautiful sunset, and had one group of geese after another take off RIGHT above their head and into the sunset! lol

Still kicking myself for not having my real camera with me.

On a side-note: I did try to take a pic on my cell. I switched from Iphone to Samsung recently. I think the Iphone takes better pics as far as cell phones go, I was disappointed this wasn't a little bit better. On Samsung I seem to get more blurry pics than I ever did with the iphone.

So, what photo do you kick yourself for missing?

Here is the cell pic in all its non-glory (tried to boost the colors a bit in PS, but it was pretty hopeless) It's cropped funny because I used it for a FB cover photo anyway.

They should put a sony sensor in that galaxy!

I miss pictures at work all the time. I am in the building construction field and there is so much geometry and interesting things going on every day. Last building we built was a 25 story downtown San Diego over looking the bay.. At least once a week I wish I had my Canon. Well - most every day I stare at the sunrise and wish I had a better camera than is in my pocket.

Two years ago when I visited Broken Hill (NSW, Australia) an ex-mining town 1,200kms from Sydney.

Perhaps it was the distance from the smog of the cities, I was trotting around with a friend and stumbled across a tall grassy field at sunset, there was a run down shack off to the left, and the resting sun lit up the entire backdrop with such a vibrant saturation of purple and orange in a way I have never been seen.

Raised the camera on the tripod and the framing was nothing short of perfection, fumbled the dials only to find the battery to be dead flat from an entire day of action.

Just need to finish the sentence.

The best camera is the one that's with you....as long as you're carrying.....in this case a 1DX and 400 2.8.

Or the best camera is the one you left at home. Or if you have case of GAS, the best camera is the one you haven't bought yet.

It's like the best light is available light, in so far that you use any light that's available to you. Most people drop the 2nd half of that one as well.

Tons of moments that I've missed but I tend to forget them because I lack a photo of the moment. The rest I chase down, attempt to recreate, wait for the moment to repeat itself, or am still hunting for. You missed this one, but there will be geese and there will be sunsets, time to start planning to go get the image in your head on purpose not happenstance.

The iphone is not a camera...it's a phone that has a camera feature.

I find that the iOS camera cranks up the ISO very high, allowing for faster shutter speeds. Not complaining; I actually prefer it, now that I'm back on iOS.

My Samsung always gave me noise-free, but usually blurry, images :(

I've missed sunsets, a barn burning (had a P&S with me, but the batteries were, of course, dead), awesome moonrises, etc, etc. I had to stop along a backroad once to avoid colliding with a crop duster crossing the road at cornrow height. Used my cell on that one, but the image was crap.

Love all the responses! The lil one I nanny had soccer practice again today and I got to see them take off again, but it was darker outside this time and no pretty sunset.

I probably sound a little too excited about geese, but it isn't something I see a lot in Los Angeles ..lol They just built this huge park with tons of open grassy areas and ponds near my house.

Here in Washington State, the geese have been migrating, but I've gotten hundreds of geese shots over the years, so I'm not so excited about packing my camera, but it is very cool to watch!

Missed a decent sized fire near my office today because my S95 broke in Arches NP recently while I was squeezing between two rocks.

Didn't even think about getting my phone out.

I very nearly went home because my office was in the way of all that smoke, but they put it out pretty quickly.

I suppose that the counter argument to "the best camera is the one that is with you" is "the best camera is the one you left at home".

The point of the saying is that a camera that is huge in capabilities and size doesn't benefit us when it's in the cabinet.

The best camera is the one you have with you, not the one left at home.

Taken with phone

Would I rather have my camera ? You bet. But it was too big to always carry ;). At least the mirrorless easily fits in my glove compartment.hi
