Yeah, from what I've understood POTN does not have any say on the ads that google puts up. It's certainly not a POTN ad or thing.

I would imagine it's similar to a Media Buyer. This person looks at the ratings for television and radio shows and buys time accordingly for his client. Example: Radio station XYZZ has a strong number of men 18-35 years old listening in the 7-10pm slot. In fact, it's the highest number of any station in the market. Rob Roy Gunny has a product that appeals to men 18-35 years old and instructs the media buyer to place his ads where the guys will hear it. Rob Roy Gunny has no idea what the numbers are for any given station so he hires the Media buyer, who does have all that info and pays BIG money to have his copy of the numbers. Media buyer purchases several spots (commercials) on XYZZ in the 7-10 pm slot for Rob Roy Gunny. His sales climb higher due to hitting his audience in the gut with his spots. Everybody is happy.

Again, I'm guessing that's how it goes down with Google and POTN. It's an ad for a 5D III on a Canon site. Not selling dog food or ear wax removal, but a Canon 5D III.

With all that said....yeah, the ad is about as phoney as a $3 bill in a perjurer's wallet.

POTN is not responsible for the content.

The other day my friend told me he had seen an ad for a *new* 1D MkIV that wasn't too pricey. He thought it was at overstock.com, which is a legit storefront. We couldn't find it later. I suspect he saw a scam ad from this overstockdigital.com site.

overstockdigital.com is a bait and switch operation of the highest order. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a friend who is new to photography who, despite my warnings, bought from them and got "switched" and ripped off for $150+. :(

Some people must learn the hard way.

Overstockdigital.com and etc have been advertising in many places lately. Some are very reputed web sites. There are several sites that may be related. They may change names after one name stinks out.
