I know sRGB is for web but what specs should you output your photo to?

The photos I have been placing are at least 1.5mb to 2.5mb in size.

The photos I want to place on the web need to be of a substantial size with good detail yet allow reasonable download speeds.

Any tips?

Where do you put them on the web? FB? Website? On FB I use .png (load too slow on my site). For FB I size them 5x7 or so, and 150 dpi. That's probably larger than some, but I feel they look sharp enough like this. My files are 2-3 mb.

I use 800px on the long end and I try to limit it to 250kb.

You shouldn't use size as a measure. Images saved for different purposes will have the same image quality but different file sizes. Namely, "saving for web", which stripes IPTC/EXIF (if set), color profiles, embedded thumbnails, produces much smaller files. So, by stripping all unused info from an image, your 250kb file can easily become 90kb.

I use save for web always. I NEVER upload a file larger than 800-900px on largest side, ever. This one is 516KB. If they want a larger size, it is available for order from my makeshift website (until January :) )

HBOC so if you wanted a fairly large image om your screen when you output it to the web in CS6 what specs would you use?

My image is now 1024x677 how would I whittle this down but retain the quality?

Just remember that not everybody has a large monitor or uses CS6. ;)
