Where is a good place to get them, I need a new "bottom plate" for my 580 exii.

Just be careful when opening your speedlight - even a "perceived discharged" capacitor can give you a very nasty shock.

I can vouch for that from personal experience.. Did it about 11 years ago working in a developers... And that was just a disposable camera flash.. Was horrible.. Wouldn't do it twice!!

oh dear, well it fell apart and broke and I had to stick some of the wire parts back in and it works again, but I'm pretty sure I might kill myself now. LOL

I did find 1 on ebay is $40 reasonable?

What do mean by bottom plate? The foot? Is it brand new? Are you from the states? You can get one from Canon USA parts for about $50.

It will have the retro foot design where the pins are pointy to eliminate possible contact problems between the flash foot and hot shoe.

If you just change the foot you are not in the area of the capacitor.

The one on ebay was used and bottom part sorry I get them confused but the whole part that comes off when the screws in those pics come out.
