Does anyone know if those batteries are available in Europe?

And did I understand it correctly, that you can use a PANASONIC LC-RA1212PG (12V / 12 AH) in the Elinchrom Ranger RX AS Speed?
They cost like 20 Euros.

*Edit*: I took mine apart and I ve got this battery: B.B. Battery BP12-12, 12V/12Ah, VdS, AGM Bleiakku, 151x98x94 (lxbxh), Pol T2 Faston 250 (6,3 mm)

Yes, that's the same lead acid battery that was in mine. I don't know of any suppliers in the EU for lithium batteries, but I imagine someone can source them. It might take a bit of searching, let us know what you find out.

Hi Sheldon N. Many thanks for your very informative post re Stark Power Lithium battery. Quite keen on getting some myself. One question though. Now that you've been using it for some months, do you have any more feedback on this product and how it works in the Ranger? Both positive and negative feedback perhaps?

Thanks again.

No real feedback other than that it's still working. I haven't really worked it hard yet (other than the full power pop test for capacity) since it's the rainy season here and I won't be able to start shooting outdoors for a couple more months.

Well, I take that back. I did have it out in the snow last month.... :)

Thank you Sheldon for the info. It took them 3 weeks to ship my battery. So far, this drop in replacement battery has performed flawlessly. I should have done this a long time ago.

Had someone get in touch with me about the lithium retrofit. They noticed slightly slower recycle times than the stock lead acid battery. I was getting the same times on mine, but that might have been because I had an older lead acid battery that I was replacing.

Lead acid is apparently better than lithium at dumping current really fast, which is what a capacitor needs to recharge.

So if your priority is fast recycle for full power pops, I would steer you towards staying with lead acid. Plus, it's probably not best for the lithium battery to be run really hard since that would make it more likely to overheat. Lithium retrofit is best suited for those who want more capacity in a lighter weight package, who don't plan on running really fast shooting pace at full power recycle.

Thanks Ralph! Sure could use some of that snow here now in the Midwest humidity. :)

I changed out mine to LipO

I bought some 14.8v 3200mAh 4s to see it they would work with the quadra and Jinbei packs. Tested in quadra and got 427 full power pops and the Jinbei I ran two in series 30v @3200mAh and got 393 full power pops and they both fit perfect in the Jinbei battery housing. Since 2 battery are the same size of the stock quadra battery I'm going to try running 2 in parallel give me twice as much battery giving me 14.8v @6400mAh which should yield 854 full power pops per charge. (still lighter then the stock battery)

I did buy a battery charger so I could balance charge the cells and it takes about hour and half to charge.

I AM SHOM
