The lighting was my Sigma 500 DG Super mounted to an Impact lightstand shooting through a 32" Wescott Umbrella(with the black outer shell off of course) and a white reflector to fill in on the other side.

the baby is great, the person holding her is kind of distracting. nice DOF, but I think the two still blend together.

Yeah... the baby is sick and having my wife hold her up was my only option tonight... which is why I tried to blur my wife out a little with the shallow DOF. I probably could have opened the aperature up more, but I didn't want to lose the edge of the facial features or the lines of the baby's cheeks. I do agree that this would look worlds better if my wife wasn't in the shot at all. When Haylee gets better and can sit on her stool on her own, I'll take more with this light setup and I'll have a better background to shoot against. Thanks for the comments.

Everyone else, thank you as well. :)

you should have your wife kneel down and hold her up in the air a little( above her head slightly) then she would be out of the shot. otherwise the lighting is great and i love the clarity

Having a little girl myself, I am not a fan of pacifires in photos but since your little one was sick I know it sometimes is soothing for them. The lighting is fantastic and the photo is very sharp.

Yes... I'm with Mike on this one... I keep wishing I could see her lips, even if there isn't a smile on them. I love little baby faces....

lol.. lips you want, lips you get. :)

Thanks for the compliments Mike. I can't wait to get my Stellars so I can REALLY play with some lighting.

I just take so many pictures of this little cutie, I don't think about things like that. I know if I don't have her lips in this shot, I've got a couple hundred more pictures where they are showing...lol.

This one is from when she was feeling a lot better and she'd just had her tubby. :)
