Short but sweet.....

New questions:

I have alienbee studio strobes.
I have plain white walls I shoot upstairs but they are not working for me.
I want 5 different color backgrounds.
What is the cheapest most effective way to go about doing this?

I will be doing a lot of single model stuff. Mostly glamour/shoulder up work, but I would love to be able to do full body stuff.

I saw the large rolls of thick cardboard type paper?
Wondering if there was a clothe route so that I may bring them with me if I need to.

also,
Do you have the studio room lit like normally while shooting or do you have all the lights very dim so the flash is the only lighting in the photo

thirdly, I believe my 50mm 1.4 has focusing problems?
Best way to test this and find out for sure?
THANK YOU!

[B]Short but sweet.....

1. Is it better quality to shoot raw and edit everything later or actually set up picture styles on the camera? (I DO NOT care about how much time, only care about if the quality is the same or if its better to use the settings on the camera. I normally shoot completely flat and spend time later on when I can actually see in detail)

Depends entirely on your definition of "better". There are times when it is better to shoot jpeg (shooting sports & need an immediate turn around/delivery). Alternately it is better from a creative choice POV to shoot RAW so you have all the sensor data available for post processing. Different definitions of better result in a different answer.

2. Are there any recommendations on Picture style settings that are good for 7 picture AEB photo sets which I will use later for HDR. ( I normally edit all pictures raw later, but that's not happening with HDR sets, so I am wanting to actually set up a picture style for them)

For HDR you will always want RAW so picture styles (which don't affect RAW files) are pointless.

3. Is it better to shoot monochrome or Edit pictures into black and white later on?

Again depends entirely on your definition of "better". You will have more creative freedom with RAW but.....

Thanks for answers, didn't know that about RAW picture shooting.

Seamless paper. Choose it over cloth (wrinkles are a b*tch and add time to post processing). There are systems you can buy that will allow you to hang the paper and have access to all of them.

Ambient light doesn't really matter. Nothing wrong with having a well lit studio. Don't have to turn down the lights to get darker photos, that is done in-camera ;)

Kinda hard to transport 107" rolls of seamless paper!
If you use muslin and wad it up for storage, you need to use sufficient distance between backdrop and subject so it falls out of focus.
