I disagree that the 28mm f/1.8 is a dog, but it does need to be at f/2 or so to sharpen up. But the 35mm f/2 IS is only $100 more, and from what I've seen is sharp from wide open! So unless you really need the 28mm FL I'd go with the 35mm in a heartbeat over the 28mm.

If I didn't already have the 35L and want/need f/1.4, I think I'd go for the Canon IS.

Sigma 35 is my favorite lens right now, which given the various "L" lenses in my current and past line-up, says a lot.

Honestly I went through the same decisions. I got 2 copies of the sigma. First copy I lost about 40% of my shots. Second about 15%. I gave up and got a refurbished canon 35mm 1.4 from canon store price was $1005. I loved the sigma but I got so frustrated. I wanted the 35 f/2 Is but would like to more stop motion in lower light. I don't take many videos which it would be so awesome at. The sigma is like playing Russian roulette but with more bullets in the chamber but if you get a good focus the pictures are very sharp. I think the lens will have a hard time focusing in artificial light and low light if you get a bad copy.

Honestly if the Sigma didn't have the focusing issue, It would be hands down the winner over the 35 f2 is and the 35 1.4L.

The ISO performance and lack of noise on the 6D is pretty profound. Not quite sure what will be better in it's pricing tier and lower. Being able to throw 6400 ISO, use F2, and have IS onboard, and still have virtually no to very limited noise appear in the photo is simply astounding for low light shots.

Very best,

Mostly stills. But being to crank the 6D to 12k ISO and not worry about noise is epic, and should let me keep pretty high shutter speeds regardless.
