I was shooting in the Circle B Reserve in Lakeland, FL the other day and came across a very nice guy who was transporting his gear in a three wheel cart. It was similar to a jogging stroller but didn't have a baby seat. It had three canvas sides so it looked more like a three wheeled utility cart. I've never seen anything like it and I should have asked him where he got it.

Anyway, I just spent a couple hours trying to find something similar or at least something that would be easily transported to the site and easy to wheel around.

The closest thing to what I want is this: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00F9Z1BOA/ (external link)

A Berkley fishing cart. Not exactly right but it might do.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Not three wheeled but I've seen this used effectively as long as the terrain it not too rough.

Depending on your application and equipment/gear you propose to carry(which unfortunately you didn't specify), if you want simple & compact while still yielding assistance/or load bearing device…

WESCO MINI MOVER FOLDING HANDTRUCK:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com …er_Folding_Handtruck.html (external link)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PMRPzqScYM (external link) (1:29 minute product video)
This has good load capacity, very stable, durable & adequate for reasonably rough terrain, but if get to an area or final part of your trek (such as at rivers large bouldery edge etc.) where you must carry (or backpack/or shoulder pack) equipment, then just fold & stash/hide this in say bushes/grasslands etc. and retrieve upon your return.

All my gear fits into a Domke F-1x at the moment but that doesn't include my RRS tripod and its companion monopod. My wife often accompanies me and she has a smaller kit but everything together is bulky.

We don't do any actual hiking in rough terrain. It's ummmm flat here in Florida and the places we go have graded paths, sometimes paved or concrete sidewalks of sorts, though we often stroll along the beaches.

Both suggests are good. Thank you both. I'm sort of hoping for something that will work on the beach as well, as I mentioned above.

That looks very ummm durable. ;)

The thing I saw had three 20" or so wheels.... I was stupid for not asking where he got it. Oh, well.

This isn't the least expensive alternative but I just ordered one of these: http://www.ruggedgear.com …d=-1/mode=prod/prd153.htm (external link)

I'll be able to put my tripod and monopod in each gun holder and store my gear in the bottom, wife's on the additional middle shelf. I talked to them on the phone and Norm said they sell about one a year to photographers and a photographer on their staff uses one in the way I mentioned above.

Getting old isn't for the weak. ;)

Being a golfer based on your user name, I'll bet it does double duty. I did see that on my search. It looks like a quality product.

It gets many miles for its primary use. Its very well built. That said if you load it up with a couple of alien bees, stands and a vagabond 2 it can be a pretty heavy load. At that point a cart with solid wheels and a pull handle might be more appropriate.

Dear Phoenixkh,

I've used a cart like some of these for surf fishing. They roll easily on paved or graveled paths and do a good job on all but the finest powdery sand. They are built to be used around the ocean and salt spray and a quick washing with a hose and a wipe down with a rag doused with WD-40 will keep them new looking for years.

I "borrow" a friend's cart annually for a beach vacation that is about 40 years old and still works as well as the day it was new. He's replaced dry rotted tires but that's all that has been done to it. It's like the 3rd one down on this page.

Tim,

I took a close look at those too. I really wanted something with three wheels that I could push in front of me, for some reason. As I said, I've spent hours trying to find the right cart for me. I hope the one I ordered will be a good fit. I think it will.

The trails I'm on are seldom rugged.... we're in Florida. It's ummmm flat here. I won't be taking this cart through the swamp but on well established paths in the various reserves around here.

Stan,

I considered various wagons as well. As stated above, I wanted a walk behind, three wheel cart.
