Shot a barrel race last weekend. Love this camera paired with the 70-200 f/2.8L II. Took over 3500 shots, camera never missed one. Awesome camera!

These are some great shots! The detail and color tonality are awesome. Were these shot with off camera flash? Great job catching the action.

Wow. That horse is practically horizontal in the first picture. Great captures! I've only done a few rodeos but I really enjoy shooting them. However, while the rest of the photographers are standing in or around the arena, I prefer to be "backstage" capturing the behind the scenes magic. ;-)a

I use 4 Einsteins when I shoot barrels. I processed in LR 5 using tonal contrast to get the definition.

A bit too much sharpening to my taste. But the 1DX is indeed a good action camera.

Nice shots... agree with Anders though. Edges are jagged. Maybe your SmugMug setting?

These look excellent! These show a different perspective and the lighting is improved over just a one light shot. Good job!!

I do have a question. I notice you have both the 1DX and the 5D3 which are both fine cameras. Do you find one is more preferable for this type of photography work and why?

Thank you!

There is more than a great camera at work here. I couldn't get those shots, 1Dx or not. Beautiful work.

Thanks guys, I understand about the sharpening, but the cowboys & cowgirls love it, they love to see the details & especially the details I can bring out of their horses. The camera is sweet & shooting with my Einsteins set in action mode at 1/200 is incredible.

Ah, the customer wants... Have heard that before, indeed! :)

I like the lights. Setting them up to look reasonably natural and still be efficient takes some experience. Pressing the trigger button at the right moment isn't that difficult, once you get some experience from the kind of shooting at hand, and I figure this is a recurring task for you. The 1DX reacts reqlly quickly. Do you utilize the ability to shorten the trigger lag in the camera?
