I've just signed up to Adobe's LR5 + PS CC deal. Previous LR4 user.

I've never used Photoshop before. What is the best book to buy that would take me from complete novice to knowing a bit about what I'm doing? I intend to look at the Adobe video tutorials as well.

I have the Martin Evening book for LR, and I see that he did one for CS6; but published 18 months ago, is CC much different?

And I see that Scott kelby has one published June this year that purports to cover CC as well as CS6.

Any recommendations?

Cheers, Damien

For a "quick start" check out Scott Kelby.

For more in-depth, check out Martin Evening.

For online, well, the resources are pretty limitless, but you can get a subscription with either Lynda.com or KelbyTraining.com and get a lot, get a month's worth and take it from there.

Thanks for your responses. Given my complete lack of prior knowledge of PS, sounds like Kelby is the place to start.

I have switched to CS2 from Photoshop 7 as Adobe gave it to us, and bought the "Photoshop CS2 Bible", written by Deke McClelland and Laurie Ulrich Fuller, published by Wiley Publishing Inc. Its a weighty tome, with some 1027 pages, but designed so that I can pick out particular items that I need to study.

I assume there will be something similar available for your version.

I would suggest to you that you go to YouTube and watch and use the video's for training on how to use Photoshop.

Scott Kelby's Photoshop User's site (NAPP) is a good deal at $99/yr. (external link) You get 10 magazines, which I think are great, plus access to all their tutorials.
