Even though it's a bit snap shotish (is that a word?), I liked the fact that while everyone else was going about their business around her, my youngest granddaughter stopped to 'strike a pose'. :D

A "snapshot" is - according to some know it all photographers - a photo that was taken on the "auto" setting without considering composition or technical elements. Well,... I have seen some pretty good snapshots :) and some people have an eye for them.
This shot has very good exposure and focus but is a bit "noisy" The pose is caught very nicely but I would crop it a lot tighter to get rid of most of the distracting elements (overly bright window and stooping girl).

May be a bit like this.....

Thanks for the comments. Thank goodness I shot this in manual mode so it wouldn't be thought of as a snap shot by some know-it-all photographers. :D I suppose I labeled it that way because the image is as it was out of camera with no crop done at all. I think if I croppped at all, it would be the right side that is empty of people. I felt that the fact that there were people around her ignoring her while she struck a pose was the story here. Originally, I had planned on cropping out the girl on the left but decided not to as I thought she helped complete the 'scene'.

I don't see the noise you're referring to. Can you point out where you see any? I used noise reduction since the iso was 640 and the image looks clean to me now.

Sorry, I used "noise" referring to the composition: other people and subjects taking the attention away from what you want the observer to look at. Not "noise" in the sense of high ISO pixilation. More like "busy".

I like it, nice "Snapshot". ;)

I'll disagree about it being busy or other people and subjects as being distracting to the image. I look at it and clearly see the main subject, she is in focus and sharp. The other elements in the image are OOF and IMHO tell the story. Without them you would have a "Snapshot". The first thing I see is her, then my eye wanders around and sees the other elements that tells the story but my eye goes right back to her.

Thanks, that's what I had hoped to accomplish. I wanted the viewer to envision the hustle and bustle in the kitchen as people prepare the Thanksgiving dinner when suddenly, one of them stops, strikes a pose and then continues on with her chores.

Hey there Doc! I think it would have been cool if it was taken with slow SS so that the other people were motion blurred out and she was nice and sharp!

That's a great idea. I'd probably need to use a tripod for that though.

I'd prefer to see the cropped version, but I really like the fun of this shot!

Cool shot my take:

Thanks, I had thought of cropping the right side but decided against it. Either way is acceptable I think. I don't care for the orange tint you've applied to the image. I also know I am in the minority on the edit of the red head too but I still think that one is like looking through a yellow tinted window. :D

Didn't apply an orange tint to this, just tried to do some color correcting, minimal, on the original.

Maybe we both need to re-calibrate :)

Gene, I've got a daughter that does the same pose thing, until...I aim the camera.

OP's looks right to me, and I just recalibrated the other day. Yours isn't bad but as a matter of taste/reality I think it's too warm.
