Hey guys,

Cyber Monday is almost here. Wondering if anyone has a brand they like for a LCD screen for video on their DSLR shoots. I am just starting to get into video production with my DSLR's so I dont need to break the bank but dont want anything super poorly made.

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving!

I really like my SmallHD AC7. At $600 it's not cheap, but it works great.

I use a SmallHD DP4 for the past 2 years and it hasn't failed me yet. I love it mainly for the focus assist and quality of video.

Does anyone use the Nexus 7 2013 as their external monitor?

I used a Nexus 7 with a CamRanger in a two-camera shoot of a school event a couple of weeks ago.

I used it on the static shot of the whole stage; I never zoomed or panned that camera. But this combo did allow me to focus while recording on my 5D Mark III. This did not work on my 5D Mark II; with that camera, I could only focus when I was not recording.

I downloaded the DSLR Controller app and tried to get it to work with both of my Nexus 7s (an older model and the newer model), and it simply wouldn't work.
