I came across this thread at dpreview. Apparently microtek is working with adobe and offering to upgrade the elements that came with their scanners to cs2 for $299. It seems some folks are using other elements serial numbers that they didn't necessarily get with a mircrotek purchase and getting cs2 for $299. I'm going to try this. I can't pass up that price. I think you access the promo through this link: http://store.adobe.com …icrotek&sourcecode=112300 (external link)

If you didn't buy the machine on which the OEM software was originally installed, you don't have a legal copy. It may work, for now, but it remains a pirated copy.

Be very wary of deals that are "too good to be true." In many cases the software includes malware that will end up costing you a lot more in the long run than a legal copy of the software ever would.

Websites advertising Adobe OEM software are usually selling pirated software. I don't believe there is such a thing as an OEM version of Photoshop CS2 anyway; I've never come across a computer sold with Photoshop CS2 pre-installed.
