Need some help... LR was pretty good with Canon photos shot in challenging WB conditions (mixed lighting, evening etc.)

Now that I shoot Nex, I find LR sorely missing - the colors at default settings come out garish. At first I blamed the camera, then used my old AfterShotPro and got much better results; downloaded Photo Ninja and got even better results. So it's the software issue.

I bought Huelight color profile for Nex. It has very little improvement (every bit helps, though).

So, here's what I got in LR with auto white balance. Pretty awful.

Here's what I get in ASP. I'd say the skin colors are more natural looking. But everything else (sharpening, NR) sucks. (Nevermind the eyes, I goofed there)

Here's the screenshot from Photo Ninja trial -they haven't sent me the trial licence yet, so can't save. I think it has a lot of potential. But it needs to be fine tuned in editor.

Finally, here's the best I was able to get in LR after much of trial and error, using PN and ASP outputs as visual guide, and adding some levels / contrast in PSP.

So, what else can be done ?

Are there any good skin tone plugins for LR ? Preferably cheap :)

In LR just move the temp slider a bit to the right, and up the shadows slightly.

Thanks, will try that.

In the meantime, I did receive a temp license from Photo Ninja. Looks intriguing.

For skin tones, I wouldn't much care how well a particular program does by default.

What's important to me, is the effectiveness and precision of the tool that lets me tune skin tones manually. In the Canon instance, the tuning color wheel in DPP is so much better than any temp/tint pair adjustment I have worked with.

Have you tried other camera profiles within LR (if they exist for your camera)?

I know nothing about the camera -- does it shoot Raw or just jpeg?

So you'll know, the Adobe team has to work with a camera model to "fine-tune" its profile and auto adjustments. I'm not surprised that they would be a bit "off" on various models, but that's what the processing controls are for!

Yes, LR has profile for Nex, but the results in challenging lighting are not very good. TBH Canon would get thrown off as well, but it was easier to fix.

I will spend more time with PN, so far I am liking it a lot. I don't use the DAM features of LR much, and in pure IQ PN seems to be ahead, at least where skin tones are concerned.
