I've been trying for this bird for 3 years. Every time I hear it is around I drive 2 hours down to see it. Even though my friends have seen it. I have yet to find it until today.
I know these all look similar but I'm posting them because I'm so excited. I tried to get some from his back to show his copper colored tail but they weren't very good.

This guy swooped down and snatched up a Preying Mantis. I watched him eat it and snapped away a few pics.

Good for you, Jeremy and excellent photos. When in Ariz., I've struck out the last two years, also.

Jeremy,
Very nice, Great shots of this Bird. You did very well. I was there last April to locate the bird. Jim Burns acted as our guide and we located it but the bird was very high in the tree canopy. Its a fair hike getting up there... Congrats on getting your nemesis. you did great!

Thanks everyone. I had not seen one of these posted on here. Maybe ever so I thought many people would enjoy it. These are only found in Mexico/central America but a few make their way up into AZ each year.
