I need to get an L bracket for my 5D Mark III and have decided against the Kirk because you have to remove the strap to attach it. Does anyone have experience with either a Markins or Promedia L bracket for this specific body? (Brackets for other bodies aren't really relevant, as sometimes a vendor has a great one for one body and not for another.)

Thanks

Yes, you may have to remove the strap but the strap will still attached to part of the L bracket. So yes you can still use your strap with the L bracket attached.

Would someone mind explaining the benefit of the L Bracket?

It lets you flip the camera over to portrait while keeping the mass of the camera above the ballhead (more stable) instead of over to the side.

I have the Really Right Stuff L plate for the 5DIII and it doesn't interfere with the strap lug. I keep an OpTech quick disconnect connected to the left hand lug and I can install/remove the L plate without issue. The RRS L plate adds another strap lug to the bottom of the camera.

I used to have RRS with my Mark II, switched to Markins for Mark III. Love it. Lighter, but still as solid. Not looking to go into panorama or other expansive accessories so it's perfect!
