Has anyone else had this happen?

In LR5 on the develop tab my photos look beautiful and sharp. Once I export them though and open them up in Preview they're noticeably pixelated.

I'm using an early 2013 15" MacBook Pro Retina and all the settings are set to optimize for the retina display. Uploading to external sites like flickr, the photos appear to be okay but I'd really like to get to the bottom of why they don't render properly in preview.

Are you viewing these in LR or some other image viewer? I do sometimes get issues with LR severely pixelating parts of images. But this is when viewing either in the Loupe View or if I run the Impromptu Slideshow function. This seems to happen with both processed JPEGs and RAW files. I just shoot RAW these days, but for a couple of years I shot JPEG's at some air shows as I only had a 1Gb CF card (EOS 300D). I get this on an old Dell laptop running Vista. The images are fine when viewed in the Develop Module and when exported. I don't keep edited JPEGs though, just re-export them as needed. To be honest I just put up with it as it affects about one image in a thousand.

So, Gary, it sounds like the problem is with your MacBook. I'd say it's no surprise -- laptops are not so good for doing photo work!

Post all your settings that you use in the Export tab, maybe there's something that's off, that you're overlooking.
