Well, I received my 6D, and so far I love it. I was just gonna keep my 40D as a crop, because that camera owes me nothing. Well, much to my wife's chagrin, since I couldn't get the money I was hoping for, so I'm just gonna keep my 7D. Maybe I'll get rid of a couple of the crop lenses I have, but in the long run, I think I'll be happy I kept it. Shhh, don't tell the mrs.! ;)

I've had the 6D for almost a year now and I'm just "rediscovering" my 7D using some new techniques I've learned in the past year. It really is a very capable camera.

6D and 7D complement each other nicely.

I missed the $1400 ebay deal on the 6D. I guess I'll wait to see if some other deals pop up, or else I may pick one up refurbished if it is available. I definitely plan on retaining the 7D for birding.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

If you are going to keep an APS-c format camera, especially if you are planning on using for "reach" you might as well keep the one with the significant pixel density advantage.

I really miss my 7D, it was better than the 6D in almost everything but image quality. The 6D takes amazing photos, and the Wi-Fi and GPS are fun, but it seems hobbled comparison to the 7D. Keep it.

I've been thinking of upgrading to the 5DIII but decided to keep my 7D. I was hoping the 5dIII was gonna be like 10x better picture quality then my 7D. It is nice but not enough for me to drop the money. I think I read most companies will give you something like 15% better. I actually started learning more about the 7D and what it can do in the past year and I'm happy with it. So I decided to add the 35. 1.4 L instead of the 5dIII money isn't an issue.

I know I will keep my 7D's when I finally make the upgrade to 5D Mark II or 1Dx. Having the extra reach , , more frames per second, build quality etc is a wise choice in complimenting your 6D. A good choice.
