Keep it for what?

Dunno. I like it as an abstract and I like the conversion, but I just don't know if this is a keeper. I liked the way the light was shining through on the steps, so I took the picture.

I don't keep a picture unless there's potential for printing...I determine if it's good for printing by having it as a desktop background...could you live with it as a background? ;)

It misses something IMHO... just the stairs is too empty.
BTW... I keep all my shots - as CR2 - with the exception of technical mishaps (OOF, motion blur, heavily under- or over exposed or typical test shots). Just stored on a hard disk or two and DVD's - indexed and tagged. Must be over 50.000 files now... :)
If I had shot this one you are asking about I would find it back when I need it as a background, illustration or whatever. Then I probably would clone out the bottom stairs muck and put something in it in Photoshop .
"Never throw away today what you might use tomorrow" - used to do that with electronic gear but that cost a lot more storage space than digital photographs. :) So I stopped with that sort of stuff but hang on to it for photos.

Thanks for the comments! Yeah, I'll keep it and hope that I find use for it some other day.

I kinda like it. There is a certain mystery to the stairway that leads to where, we do not know. I think I would try to bring out more texture of the stone and play with contrast, etc to help create a mood though.

You might even add some light from above to add to the sense of mystery.

I quite like it, but I agree with navydoc; it needs some dodging and burning or just some more contrast

I really like the added light version btw :)

I've taken photos (I guess we all have) that look better for real than when we actually look at the photograph. For me this is one of those.

I can see why you took it but as said it is missing something.

I was going to say crop the bottom to lose that distracting mark on the step but navydoc's treatment has had the desired effect.

I'd keep it but it wouldn't be a photo I'd use elsewhere.

When I have something like this that I like I keep it. Even if its nothing. I find that shots like this are what get me to try new things in Photoshop to see what I have learned.

Or, If i remember where Its at I would take my son there and sit him in diff places see what comes out. If you like it its for a reason. why not try something else with the spot... not like its going anywhere.

get out and shoot
