Your guys shots make me want to sell my equipment and give up :lol:

But instead, i'm going to procure a longer lens and keep practicing ;)

I honestly admit, i'm just tired of cropping so much.

1st shot is a non-crop while the other 3 are, the difference is ridiculously obvious.

Next step in a 300mm F/4 IS USM, then comes a 1.4X TC :D

Nice job and variety! I have a 400 5.6 and a 1.4 extender, and still can't produce shots like we see on here, but I will keep plugging along!

I feel like you- lucky for us with practice we get better. also birding is one of the few things you don't have to be good at to enjoy doing. BTW- these are great shots

Nice to see there are others in my boat, i always have a blast and don't mind shooting 300-400 shots even if i only get 20 or so keepers. The one's i do get i'm like "awwwwwwwww yeah...nailed it" :lol:

It's all about enjoying the journey(and nature) JD. You've got some very nice shots here, I especially like the Stellar's Jay. You may not have the lens reach you want yet but you're learning valuable skills now and they're paying off.

Its all about getting close.
Having a long lens helps too.
These are good shots, do not be hard on yourself.
