I am sick and tired of the intrusion of Adobe. When I launch my Photoshop Elements 10 to do some editing, I am connected to the web and Adobe's site. If I had a question or something I could navigate there myself, thank you. I feel as though I am being spied upon and don't like it one bit. I've since disconnected my modem prior to launching PSE. I may be forced to delete my Adobe software and go with Corel or someone else just for peace of mind. What say you?

First, you are being spied on. Its just something you are going to have to get used to. I wouldn't worry about until they start suggesting edits to your photos.

If you connect to the internet at all, you are being spied on - might as well get used to it.

Can just imagine that - you finish 20 mins of editing, go to save it and a pop up comes up going "Are you sure you want that outrageously garish HDR with the fuzzy sharpening saved??":lol:

Yes, I can imagine that. Something along the lines of "hey, we've passed this photo around Ft Mead and the consensus is a bit more crop would really help it out. Good luck with your photography, its improved quite a bit over the past few months"

Have to give all those electronic spy people something to appreciate too!

Mark - I found the following reference as it applies to PSE9. Perhaps there is a similar toggle in your program:

You can stop PSE9 from automatically accessing the Internet by going to -- Organizer>Edit>Preferences>Adobe Partner Services>Check for Services and removing the check mark for "Automatically check for services".

Note: The other four options in the "Check for Services" submenu will be automatically turned off.

I hope you don't use the help in Microsoft Office...guess what? It immediately connects you to their online help!

If you're that bent out of shape over it, install a software firewall and have it block Photoshop from calling home.

Try Corel PaintShop Pro and Aftershot. They are both super affordable. And powerful. I do get pop ups when I close either program that will alert me about their new products. But I can dismiss those.

How about building a separate machine that isn't connected to any network.
Use a thumb drive to transfer file between it and your other computer that is
connected to the net. That way your machine can't call home, to any of the
snoopy software companies, that seem to think it's their God Given right to
track everything you do.

Thank you very much. I was sure there was a way to disable the connection but couldn't find it on my own. I really do appreciate the great advice.

It isn't a God given right, but I'm sure it's in the agreement you accept before the software will install. You know, that annoying thing everyone clicks past without reading?

You know WHY everyone clicks it without reading it...?

Because, after decades of this **** from software companies, we all KNOW they've got us by the short and curlies, and, if we actually WANT to use the expensive software we just paid for, we HAVE NO OPTION BUT to click accept...

It's F'ing blackmail, but what are you gonna do?

It's worse than that. The expensive software you just paid for you didn't buy and don't own. You just paid for the right to use the software. They still own it and can legally reclaim or alter your copy at any time.

Well, they can try.
