You still don't screw your customer base by dead-ending a product. They should have done some market research before releasing the M1...and what is worse, they drained their inventory by doing a fire sale on the M1, knowling all along the product would be dead. Thank you Canon.
Well, first, we are not sure it is truely dead. It may look that way but stranger things have happened. Second, products are dead-ended all the time especially in the technology sector and by stopping production does not disable the one you have. VHS/Beta, reel to reel, Walkman, Watchman, LED watches all have in essence disappeared and been replaced.
Canon had a shot and others plain out engineered them. They were late to begin with and never had their heart in it it seems. One should not be surprised, but that's not really screwing you customer base, thats just ending a failed product line. Back a few years there were people who bought an Edsel. This is Canon's Edsel.
