Every week we select a new theme, and then go out and shoot that theme. This weeks the theme is Point and Shoot. As always be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme, creativity is what we're looking for.

Point and Shoot this week! If you don't have a Point and Shoot, you could use a cell phone... or just use your DSLR and Point and Shoot! Like from the hip.. :p

Here are the rules:

1. Shots need to be taken between Monday posting and the following Monday by Sunset (Whenever that is for you ). Because this activity is supposed to encourage us to get out and shoot, please don't post old shots from your archives. Snapshots and art are equally welcome -- just get out & shoot, and then share!

2. Post your shots at any time during the week.

3. Post a maximum of two shots if you're uploading them to POTN (i.e., attaching them). You can post more than two if you're linking to shots that are not hosted by POTN (i.e. embedding them), but keep within POTN rules. Also keep within POTN rules about size. A copy of the size rules can be found here:IMAGE POSTING RULES

That's it! Have fun! . As always be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme, creativity is what we're looking for.

An index to previous weeks can be found here: POTN WORLDWIDE PHOTO WEEK INDEX

That's it! Have fun!

This is an easy one because I always use a point and shoot.

My little point and shoot:

I just looked up the specs on that G15. Seems like a nice piece of hardware!

Each other.

It wasn't a very creative interpretation. I have something else in mind as well. Stay tuned.

I like the flash diffuser ;)
This the sort of thing, I would do for this subject.

Flash diffuser ... so that's what the tape is for. I was going to ask.

Muffling the flash is necessary for bug macros, which are most of what I used the pocket camera for until I got the G15. Under the tape are several layers of tissue paper.

What could be more point-and-shooty than a point and shoot? A point and shoot on AUTO mode, that's what! Here we go, a macro of popcorn with the G15 taking all the decisions away from me, even the decision whether the shot was to be a macro. No PP except resizing.

EDIT: This was taken at night. The only light was an incandescent bulb in a closed ceiling fixture. I think the G15 did a good job of white balancing. Focus was harder. I took a few shots before finally getting the focus in the foreground, and DoF was narrow because the camera chose f/1.8. In AUTO, making the camera agree with you about what shall be the subject is largely a matter of luck.

OhLook your camera did a nice white balance.

Here is one I took the other day with my P&S (which I love cause its so small and light with a big telephoto ;) ) in a park in Hawi.

OhLook -- Like your popcorn shot.

John -- Cute pussertoes. Is he in a drainpipe?

Crissa -- Your shots will bring back memories for years to come.
Two Christmases ago I took a shot, very similar to your first one, that featured my grandaughter on her first visit to NYC. It's a photo that I cherish.

So far, everything posted shows that P&Ss aren't to be sneezed at. These are good shots!

Another installment of AUTO, at medium distance this time. Again, no PP except resizing.

Lemon tree, G15 on AUTO. Dark winter afternoon sky; rain is predicted in a few hours.

IMAGE: http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu134/OhLook/POTN-2/Autolemon_zps362f6777.jpg

Tops of some lemons are white. This camera tends to overexpose. EXIF: 1/30 sec, f/1.8, ISO 200. An ISO of 80 would have been plenty. In AUTO, EC and ISO adjustments aren't available.

For comparison, the same thing using Tv mode. EXIF: 1/200 sec, f/1.8, EC –1, ISO 500. The colors came out close to reality. EC –2/3 might have been slightly better.
